About PetlyReviewed
PetlyReviewed exists because buying pet gear is full of guesswork. Spec sheets never tell you whether a feeder jams, a fountain is loud enough to keep you awake, or a GPS tracker's battery dies on day three. We close that gap — by testing the products real pet owners buy, then writing guides that tell you the good, the bad and the annoying.
How we test
Every guide on this site follows the same process:
- We use the products. Our guides are built on real-world testing: dispensing accuracy, noise levels, cleaning time, battery life, app reliability — measured, not guessed.
- We test on real pets. A feeder isn't good because the app is pretty; it's good because a picky cat actually eats from it. We test with the pets we live with — dogs of different sizes, cats with opinions.
- We flag the catches. Hidden subscription fees, expensive replacement filters, parts that break after six weeks — the flaws that only show up after extended use. We list them up front.
- We update regularly. Product lines change fast. We revisit and refresh our top picks so recommendations stay current.
- We only recommend what we'd buy. No paid placements, no "everything is amazing" list padding. If a product has a flaw, we say so.
Our promise
- Honest. We publish the downsides. Every "Best of" list on this site has a "the catch" section.
- Independent. Nobody pays to appear. Brands can't buy a place in our guides.
- Practical. We answer the questions owners actually search for, and we keep the jargon out.
How we're funded
We earn a small commission when you buy through links on this site — at no extra cost to you. That's the entire business model, and it's exactly why honesty matters to us: our only way to earn is if you trust our recommendations and keep coming back. See our full disclosure for details.
